Introducing " Viorica Luminita Phelan" Her personal spiritual experiences in her first and New journal. " My Self Discovery Reflections Journal." A brand new author, with a new perspective on spirituality.
Viorica Phelan: Our New Spiritual Author.
– 2010
Based on true experiences by, Viorica Phelan
My name is, Viorica Luminita Phelan, I was born in Romania on, May 23, 1970.
My grandparents, and my mothers beliefs are Greek Catholic Orthodox, and I grew up with these beliefs and their ways up until the age of ten years old.
My grandmother was a very godly person but, I did not know anything about God until one day she took me for the first time to a church. I remember the candles, statues of The Lord, Jesus Christ hanging from the church walls, and in the middle of the church was what they called an Altar. This is where the priest holds the holy mass, or ceremonies.
The scent of the candles, and flowers, caught my attention along with the holy statues all around the room. I felt a certain mystery every time when my grandma took me there.
Since I was a child, I was curious to know this God that my grandma always talked to me about. I remember one time, when we were going to church every Sunday, and a memory that I can remember that happened on November first. We went to the cemetery to remember our family members who had passed away, we stayed there until from, twelve midnight to, until three or, four o clock in the morning to light candles, and sit in the cemetery to pray for our loved ones. At the time I was seven years old, it was some kind of Vigil or, remembering the moments of their deaths in which before they passed away.
Another time, we were in the church once again, and I was going to church almost all the time, to praise and give glory to God. We prayed for all the food, and our health, and everything good he gave us. I remember having a feeling of sorrow, in my heart all the time, for no reason. Jealousy was there and it got more and more stronger as time went by. At the age of seven years old, my mother took me to a funeral, and for some reason I could never understand why people were dying, and what funerals meant. I asked myself over and over, “Why would God let this happen to others?” I wondered where we went once we left this Earth, and what happens to us after we die? If God is in charge, why then when people are dying, where is he? And when people are getting sick, why doesn’t God help those people? So, I always looked for answers but, my grandmother could not tell me much. All she could say was, “We have to be good, pray to God to keep us alive, and in good health.”
